Educating the Next Generation of Healthcare Professionals
Alliance Health Centers is committed to strengthening the healthcare workforce through academic partnerships with multiple colleges and universities. Through formal affiliation agreements, Alliance serves as a community-based clinical education site where students and trainees gain hands-on experience caring for medically underserved and vulnerable populations throughout Northeast Indiana.
Many of Alliance's physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, behavioral health professionals, and clinical leaders also serve as faculty members, adjunct faculty, clinical instructors, field educators, preceptors, and supervisors for affiliated institutions of higher education. In these roles, they contribute to the education, clinical supervision, mentorship, competency development, and professional training of future healthcare professionals while integrating academic learning with real-world patient care.
Working alongside experienced interdisciplinary clinicians, students develop the knowledge, clinical judgment, and practical skills necessary to provide high-quality, integrated, patient-centered care within federally designated medically underserved communities.
Alliance provides clinical education and training opportunities across a wide range of healthcare disciplines, including:
- Physician Assistants (PA)
- Nurse Practitioners (NP)
- Registered Nurses (RN)
- Certified Medical Assistants (CMA)
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Social Work Students
- Mental Health Counselors and Behavioral Health Professionals
- Medical Residents
- Other healthcare and allied health professions as opportunities arise
Academic Research & Community Health Collaboration
In addition to clinical education, Alliance maintains several ongoing affiliations with institutions of higher education to advance research focused on improving the health of underserved communities. Working collaboratively with university faculty, students, and researchers, Alliance participates in community health needs assessments, population health research, program evaluation, workforce development initiatives, and applied research designed to identify innovative, evidence-based approaches to improving patient outcomes and expanding access to care.
These collaborations allow students and faculty to engage directly with real-world healthcare challenges while supporting Alliance's mission of delivering high-quality, integrated care to the communities we serve.
